This Privacy Policy explains how Worded ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use this website and our mobile apps (together, the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to the practices described here.

Information we collect

We collect the following types of information:

  • Learning progress. The words you collect and your quiz progress are stored locally on your device (your browser's localStorage on the web, or on-device storage in the app). If you sign in, this progress may also be stored on our servers so it can sync across your devices.
  • Account information. If you choose to sign in, we receive a unique account identifier used to identify your account and save your progress. With Google, we also receive your name and profile picture; we do not request your email address. With Sign in with Apple, you may choose to share your name and an email address (which you can hide behind Apple's private relay); these are used only to show who is signed in, and we store a token from Apple so that you can delete your account and have it revoked with Apple.
  • Usage and device data. Like most websites, our servers and third-party providers may automatically receive technical information such as your IP address, browser type, and pages visited.

How we use your information

  • To provide and maintain the Service and save your progress.
  • To authenticate you when you sign in.
  • To understand how the Service is used so we can improve it.
  • To display advertising that helps keep the Service free.

Cookies

Cookies are small text files stored on your device. We and our partners use cookies and similar technologies (including browser localStorage) to remember your preferences, keep you signed in, and serve and measure advertising. You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings; disabling them may affect some features of the Service.

Advertising and Google AdSense

Advertising is shown on our website only; our mobile apps do not display ads or use advertising cookies or identifiers. On the website, we use third-party advertising companies, including Google, to serve ads. Deleting your account and data. You can permanently delete your account and all synced progress at any time. In the mobile app, go to Settings and choose "Delete account"; this erases your data from our servers and, if you signed in with Apple, revokes your Sign in with Apple token. You can also clear locally stored progress at any time by resetting it in the app or clearing your browser data, or contact us and we will delete your data for you.

Children's privacy

The Service is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
