WORDED

Build your English vocabulary

What is WORDED?

WORDED is a free vocabulary trainer that teaches the most common English words in the order you will actually meet them. Every question is a real sentence with one word missing: you pick the word that fits, so you learn meaning and usage together instead of memorizing isolated translations.

The word list covers thousands of the most frequently used English words, ranked by how often they appear in real English - subtitles, books, news and the web. Your progress is saved automatically, no account required, and everything works in English or Japanese.

How it works

  1. Complete the sentence

Each question shows a sentence with a blank and four candidate words. Choose the one that fits - the sentence gives you the context a flashcard never could.

  2. Learn from every miss

Stuck? Reveal the answer to see the completed sentence, its meaning and pronunciation. Missed words are collected so you can review them - even as a short podcast episode generated from your own mistakes.

  3. Build a daily streak

Your collection grows with every correct answer, and a practice heatmap keeps the daily habit visible. Sign in with Google to sync progress across devices.

Why learn words in frequency order?

English word usage is extremely top-heavy: research on language corpora consistently shows that the most frequent 1,000 word families account for roughly 80–85% of everyday conversation, and the top 3,000 for around 95%. Learning in frequency order means every session targets the words most likely to appear in the next thing you read, watch or say.

WORDED’s ordering is built on open word-frequency data drawn from multiple large corpora, so “common” reflects real modern English rather than one textbook’s opinion. You can browse the entire ranked list, with meanings and example sentences, in the word reference below.
